Where to watch Navy Pier fireworks from?

We are staying in Schaumburg, parking at an outlying L stop and riding in/out. We want to watch NP fireworks on Sat. night. We really don%26#39;t ';need'; to be at NP, so where should we watch the show from that has easy access to L?

thanks

Where to watch Navy Pier fireworks from?

We%26#39;ve watched them from the beer garden on the far end of Navy Pier. But I would imagine you could definitely see them from the lakefront/Lake shore drive across from Millennium Park (Randolph, Madison, Adams stops). www.transitchicago.com/maps/maps/2007D.html

You can see them from either bank of the river east of Michigan. Probably a bit more easily from the south side since there are no buildings to block the view.

I%26#39;ve also watched them from the bike path east of Lake Shore Drive between the Buckingham Fountain and the river.

You have a couple of options. If you take the train from Schaumburg, you will be taking the Metra trains, not the El. (www.metrarail.com) They go to Union station on South Canal street. The weekend schedules for the Metra trains are pretty limited. So unless you really don%26#39;t want to drive half way to the city, I wouldn%26#39;t recommend it. I would suggest driving in towards on the city on I-90 and parking at the park-n-ride either in Rosemont by O%26#39;Hare or Cumberland Ave. (www.transitchicago.com) You can park for just a few bucks and the blue line will take you into the loop. You can get off at any downtown station and walk east toward the lakefront and you should have a pretty good view from Millenium or Grant park. The blue line is a shorter walk to the lakefront than the Metra trains, costs less, and runs more frequently. This is going to be our strategy when we visit Taste of Chicago in two weeks.

Enjoy.

haasmail, we already decide to not ride the metra, but drive to Rosemont or other EL stops and rid that in, like what you are planning...just couldn%26#39;t remember Rosemont%26#39;s name!

Sounds like we%26#39;ll be able to watch the fireworks pretty well from Millenium park or Grant park, but I just wanted to make sure there weren%26#39;t any other ';unknown'; vantage points.

Thanks!
