Trip Report with Family

Hi Everyone,

Time flies when you are having fun. We had a great time in Chicago, but not enough time or maybe energy! Here%26#39;s a recap of our trip with our 10 year old boys!

Took the El from O Hare. About an 1 hour drive. It was fine. We did have a foul mouthed woman near us, so the boys got an earful! However, after switching trains, we were right at our hotel, Hilton Garden Inn. Perfect location and people really nice! Went to Jewel, Trader Joes, very convenient.

Ate pizza at Giordano%26#39;s. Got both thin and deep dish. Very good.

Went to Signature Lounge and had a drink and Tiramisu. Walked around a little on Mag Mile.

Next day, we went to Grand Luxe for Lunch and to the Lincoln Zoo. The boys enjoyed and then we stopped for a treat at Ed Debevics . You have to get the world%26#39;s smallest sundae. We went at an off time, so it wasn%26#39;t crowded. I would recommend for dessert just so the kids can get the attitude from the waiters without eating a dinner or lunch there. When we walked out, we stumbled upon the rock and roll McDonald%26#39;s so we went in and checked out. (Can you tell this totally was a kid%26#39;s trip so far?)

Went back to hotel to get ready for our bike ride! Chitowngirl, we loved the Bobby%26#39;s Bike Hike at night! It was great, even though I wiped out on State Street! It states kindergarten easy, but I don%26#39;t know if I would have kids that weren%26#39;t great bike riders. You do ride in the streets in some parts. Even with the fall, one of the highlights of my trip! It was a great way to enjoy the weather and see the town, but take allergy medicine if you go. My husband was useless the next day. Starving after the 8 mile bike tour so I ate the leftover deep dish at 10:30pm!!

Thursday - we got up and went down mag mile again (Nike Town) Saw the bean and fountains during the day, and then went to Field Museum. Very nice but husband had to sit out at the museum. His sinuses were killing him.

Decided to eat at the adjoining Weber Grill after the museum and let husband rest. I took the boys to Navy Pier, Children%26#39;s Musuem(thurs. has free admission) and played a game of mini golf. Was not impressed with Navy Pier. Wouldn%26#39;t do it again.

Last day in town, my Chicago friends picked us up and took us to Wrigley. We went to Sluggers!! Loved it. Thanks, DVDmovie. The boys did the batting cage and the girls went down to the bar for a beer. Really enjoyed Wrigleyville and the game. Had 2 Chicago dogs there. Then my friends took us to their lake house for 2 days. That was our time to relax.

So many things to do! Maybe next time my husband and I can go and shop and see some of the other sights!

Thanks for all your help!

GOTTG, so glad that your family had a great time here. Yes, come back soon - we%26#39;ll keep you occupied and happy!

And so glad you enjoyed Bobby%26#39;s Bike Hike, despite your spill. The good thing about them is that they have a couple of hikes, so you get different perspectives of the city.

By the way, did you get some pictures then - especially of Buckingham Fountain, the skyline, Millennium Park at night?

ChiTownGirl, Yes we did! That%26#39;s why I wanted to see the Bean during the day. I am a horrible photographer, but it is so cool to get the skyline in the reflection. We saw the Buckingham Fountain at night on the bike hike. We stopped there to get ice cream and listen to a couple of songs and watch the fountain. We also stopped along the lake to watch the Navy Pier fireworks.
