I need to decide if I want to include the Adler on our trip to Chicago this summer. We are doing MSI, the Field and Shedd. My boys are 11 %26amp; 7 and I have a 2 yo. girl. The little one is really not a problem since she%26#39;s really good with keeping up with her older siblings, and we%26#39;ll have a stroller for her. My husband loves all ';space'; stuff, so he definitely wants to go but he%26#39;s open to leave if it%26#39;s really not so good, but I could always skip it and do Lincoln Park and the beach instead, for example. My boys speak english as a second language, so this is something to think about too, since I don%26#39;t know if the museum has mostly audio displays with too much scientific information that would not be easy to understand. Most of the advice that I%26#39;ve gotten here has been to skip the Planetarium, and I%26#39;ve also found many people that have gone to Chicago or actually live there, and they%26#39;ve never been to the Planetarium. Why?? Not good, boring, long??? What%26#39;s your advice?
Need some feedback on Adler Planetarium
While I%26#39;m not a space geek, I go to the Adler every few years. I find it enjoyable.
From a recent article - In acknowledgement of the U.S.’s early space exploration, the fully-restored Gemini 12 spacecraft is on display, along with more than 30 artifacts from Captain Jim Lovell’s personal collection. A few highlights include a rejection letter he received from the Mercury Program in 1959, original flight plans and manuals from the Gemini 12 mission and original Gemini patches flown in space. The Apollo missions—which saw us land a man on the moon—include a flight suit and helmet, a watch worn in flight and more of Jim Lovell’s letters. Interactive elements let visitors take part in their own space odysseys.

If your husband loves all ';space'; stuff, then you should definitely go to the Adler. It wasn%26#39;t my favorite of the Chicago musuems even though I, too, have an interest in astronomy, but there%26#39;s enough to keep the kids interested and entertained for an hour or so while your husband enjoys himself. The planetarium show, however, probably wouldn%26#39;t be a good idea for the kids since the information given is via audio and can be somewhat scientific. (Although, this is something your husband might enjoy on his own.)
