Another transport question ...

Hi there

I%26#39;ve been studying the CTA system map in an effort to try and map out how we%26#39;ll get around to various sites/shopping during our stay ... however, I%26#39;m a little hamstrung on one route.

Our accommodation is near the Clark/Division train stn ... is the easiest way to get to the Michigan Ave shopping sector, exiting @ at Grand and walking a few blocks ?

Or what about buses ... I haven%26#39;t made any headway on that front referring to the transit map.

Assumng the weather%26#39;s nice, it%26#39;s a leisurely walk from Clark/Division to the north end of the Mag Mile area. Otherwise, Grand will work for you.

Have you tried the trip planner section at transitchicago.com?

Thanks for your reply.

Re: walking, I was actually wondering about that - it%26#39;s difficult to judge distances from the online maps, and we%26#39;re not averse to walking ...

So from Clark/Division what would you say the distance and/or walking time would be to the river or downtown (say Millennium Park) ?

cheers

This web site will help - http://www.hopstop.com/?city=chicago

Usually the measure is 8 blocks to a mile, so Clark and Division is within walking distance to a lot of sights, including the zoo and beach. There is good shopping along Michigan Avenue from Oak Street to the river, and lower-cost shopping along State Street in the Loop.
