My son and I are flying into Chicago next Friday for a short, jetlagged three days long stay. It is the first time in Chicago for both of us. What should not be missed? What could be fun for an 11 years old? We are both rather into architecture. Is there anything special going on next weekend? We are staying in a guesthouse close to Lincoln Park, I believe.
Next weekend
You definitely need to check out the architectural boat tour on the river! There are also festivals every weekend in different parts of the city that are fun to attend in the evening...w/ fun bands, etc. You can look up things to in Chicago on www.metromix.com and put the dates in, etc. Navy Pier might be something fun to do, or Millenium park. There are some great museums as well...my favorite is The museum of Science and Industry. They did have a BodyWorld exhibit, but not sure if tis still there. If the weather is nice, head to North Avenue Beach to do some people watching, play some beach volleyball, frisbee, etc. There are some great photo opportunities at North Avenue beach with the lake and skyline in the background! Walk along the Magnificent Mile/Michigan Avenue and check out some of the stores. You%26#39;ll probably be near Lincoln Park Zoo, so that may kill a couple hours -its fairly small for a zoo.
Sears Tower is always a tourist attraction, the Ferris Wheel at Navy Pier. The trolley Historical tour. Must get some Chicago Style Deep Dish pizza from Pizzeria Uno or Giordanos!! YUM! Portillos Chicago style HotDogs on Clark and Ontario. Lots of stuff to do!
Next weekend
1. Chicago Architectural Foundation riverboat tour.
2. Visit Millenium Park (Cloudgate aka the Bean)
3. Pizza at Gino%26#39;s East or Lou Malnati%26#39;s
enjoy,
/pbz
