Locals: what's the cicada situation like right now?

Are they infesting everything or is it just something you see here and there? Thanks

It%26#39;s it and miss, depending on location.

I have not seen a single one.

Either downtown. Or in Schaumburg or Buffalo Grove.

I haven%26#39;t seen any - yet. I%26#39;ve seen them in the past though, and they are interesting to see. They pretty much just sit there (last time I took a macro picture of one, I practically stuck the camera about a cm from the thing%26#39;s face and it didn%26#39;t do anything) , so you can study them.

On the Cubs broadcast a few minutes ago they were saying they hadn%26#39;t seen any, but on the Today show this morning they showed some dude covered with them and all of the sidewalks covered. Don%26#39;t know where he was located, maybe it wasn%26#39;t Chicago.

I bike ride through the local forest preserves everyday and in certain sections of the trail they look like leaves on a tree and create a constant humming sound; in other sections its just a few them. Outside of the forest preserves I’ve seen very few.

From what the news said yesterday they still may show up. Supposedly they%26#39;re moving from West to East. We were in Oak Brook over the weekend and didn%26#39;t see any. Last time they were here I was at Brookfield Zoo and there were tons of them. We%26#39;re able to hear them pretty far south in Crete though so they are around.

Yeah, it just seems to depend where you are. There are a bunch, but not a crazy amount by me in Lombard and Villa Park. Glen Ellyn and Elmhurst have alot. I guess there are still more to come in the next few days, so we%26#39;ll see if it gets worse.

hi, I live in Elmhurst and it is crazy here. My kids are having a blast. Let%26#39;s just say cutting the grass is like a horror show, heads and wings everywhere. They are really cool.

I live by the lake, with a pretty large yard, and I have not seen one yet.

None in Lincoln Park. I saw one on a tree in Glen Ellyn last weekend!
