30 something single gals need recs on bars/lounges to mingle

Hi all,

We are a few 30 something ATL girls coming to town to shop, wine, dine, and flirt. Any recommendations for bars and restaurants? I am originally a Chicagoan, but haven%26#39;t visited in 3 years so I no longer know what is hot. Also, I am no longer a 20 something, so am looking for bit more of an upscale scene, without the snotty ';too cool for you'; attitude. Thanks for any and all help!

The Underground @ 56 West Illinois Street (cross street is Dearborn). Rockit on Hubbard (near Dearborn is a fun bar. Lux Bar on Bellevue (one block north of Oak), just east of Rush is good, too). Japonais Restaurant on Chicago at Larrabee is really great and has a fantastic lounge downstairs. Sushi Samba Rio on Wells -- go to the bar upstairs. If the Cubs are in town, the bars around Wrigley are always crowded -- Moran%26#39;s and Murphy%26#39;s are particularly good. John Barleycorn%26#39;s @ Belden + Lincoln draws a nice crowd. Pops For Champagne at Ohio + State is certainly worth a visit.

An additional thought....

I%26#39;d have dinner one night @ DeLaCosta (Latin). It%26#39;s on Illinois near Lake Shore Drive. Assuming the weather is good, you can site outside on the River.

The Lodge on Division (between State + Dearborn) never fails to be a fun late night casual bar. Avoid places like Excalibur!!

I would steer clear of Japonais, very expensive and pretentious. Try Sangria. The tapas are pretty good but it%26#39;s the atmosphere you should go for. Later (around 12:30 AM) the place gets packed with dancers. They clear tables off the floor to make more room for dancing. It%26#39;s also in the Weed Street district so you could hop around those bars just for kicks. You must valet your cat at Sangria parking is horrendous.
